For some of us, we hoped that this pandemic and shelter in place would have a clear end in a few month's time. We want to recognize that this is not possible and we will not be returning to "normal" anytime soon. We are waiting for the state and city to give their directives and next steps for how some limitations of sheltering in place may be lifting. As we wait for more clarity we wanted to put out the following:
We will continue with the patterns we have set up for all our structures to be facilitated through zoom through June 7. This will give us time to hear from the state and city and discuss as a leadership what next step we might want to take.
We can recognize together the fatigue we are experiencing from continuing to have to connect in virtual ways. Connecting on platforms like zoom do not allow us to live out our created nature as embodied people. Given that zoom will continue to be a necessary way we facilitate church, we can think together about how to continue to be creatures who need embodied connection with God and each other, even in these days. Here are a few suggestions I have gathered as I have read and talked to others.
We will not have our Anniversary Picnic on May 16, but will celebrate our Anniversary on May 17 in worship and in groups afterward.
Pray for our session meetings on May 5 and June 2 where we will be discerning next steps. Pray also for our pastoral staff as we meet and discern.
We will have a congregational meeting on Sunday, June 7 at 7:30 pm via zoom where we will share whatever plans we can put in place to continue to facilitate our life as a church. If you have any questions, feel free to contact one of our Pastoral Staff (Cindi, Danny, Andrew, Gaylene).
