Dayspring is seeking to live out generosity amidst vulnerability and to live out of the divine economy of abundance instead of an economy of scarcity. This has taken concrete form in its #revenue5for5 response to pandemic: a commitment to give 5% of revenue for 5 months to support our local community. Some of these funds have gone toward supporting Redeemer's joint Neighbor Fund effort with Dayspring, Redeemer's Pandemic Fund, and Rise Prep scholarships. Read more here.
With Dayspring's contribution of $12,000, The Neighbor Fund was able to offer grants ranging from $750 to $1500 to each current and past borrower. Chi-Ming concluded the email he sent borrowers with this:
Neighbor Fund was started by Christians who have been shaped by the prayer that Jesus taught his followers to pray—“give us this day our daily bread”. So we’re trying to look at where we have more than enough for today and how we might share that with neighbors. We know that you’re doing the same in so many different ways. We also know that this is a drop in the bucket, but we’re happy to share what we do have.
Redeemer received personal thank you’s from Yolanda of YCATS and Ray and Irma from R&I Glassworks. Thanks be to God for the privilege of participating in his work!
